Come join me in Mount Pleasant, Michigan for this spooky jump into the basics of sugar cookie decorating! Learn everything you need to get started in this sweet hobby!
About this event
Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! Redeemed Sweets is here to help! In this 1.5-2 hour class, we’ll cover the basics to sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you’ll need is provided at class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).
You’ll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we’ll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below – looking forward to having you with us.
This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you’re trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We will be doing a fun Halloween themed set that tastes amazing and will look even better once you’ve completed your decorating!
We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in – we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!
This class is on Monday October 28th, 2024 and starts at 6:00pm sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family – this class will be limited to 10 people, so grab your seat before it sells out! It’s a blast whether you’re coming with a friend, family member, or solo!
This class is good for most ages (we would recommend 8+). Use your best judgement when it comes to children attenders. While this is a beginner class, it still requires the ability to hold and maneuver an icing bag. Each ticket includes ONE set of materials. If you are bringing a child attender, they must have their own ticket.
The class will be held at For Art’s Sake in Mount Pleasant, MI located at 117 S. Main Street.
FAQ’s
What will I be doing in the class?
Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day.
Do I need to know how to bake?
Nope! No baking history required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread!
What will we learn in class?
You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class!
What do I need to bring?
Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we’d encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – I love photos!
What age is best for cookie classes?
Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents – come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 13 will need a parent taking the class as well.
Can just my child take the class?
We ask that all parents also attend the classes with their children. For children over 16, you can drop off your child to take the class and return to pick-up in 1.5 hours. Due to space restrictions, we do not have room for parents to stand by and watch their children in class. So unfortunately, your adorable kiddo cannot take the class alone. A parent must also purchase a ticket and take the class as well – but I promise you this – it’s super fun for all involved!
What will I bring home?
By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 – 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!
Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?
You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 15 seats for this class, so definitely sign up ASAP!
Where are the classes located?
This class will be held at For Art’s Sake in Mount Pleasant, MI – that address is 117 S Main St.
I signed up for a class but can’t make it?
We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 14 days before the class. Please read further policies below as we do not refund tickets unless Redeemed Sweets has to cancel the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are), or redeem your ticket for an upcoming class. Any cancelation after the 14 days you will only be able to transfer your ticket to another person. It will not be redeemable after the 14 days prior to the class as cookies, icings, and materials may already be prepped for the amount people taking the class. Redeemed Sweets reserves the right to alter these policies at any time without notification.

Things to bring
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they’re also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.

For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 1.5 hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!
A little about me – I am a Believer, Wife, Momma, and baker! I have been baking for as long as I could remember. But over the last few years I got really excited about sugar cookies. So the end of 2023 I decided to jump in and open my baking company! I am so excited to bring these cookie classes to the Central Michigan area! See you in class!
Oh yeah – I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can get in on the cookie action!
